A rainy Oregon Coast elopement and a really funny proposal story...

What an incredible weekend with these awesome humans (and Franklin the kickass bulldog)!! I’m not gonna lie, we ended the day EXHAUSTED! We faced some crazy (even for February) PNW weather that lasted the entire day. High winds, huge waves, cold temps and heavy sideways rain. But through it all, Bekah and Matt were AMAZING!

Not that I was surprised.. I knew these two were awesome from the start.

"I'm a hot tub, books and card game type of gal. I'll fish and camp, but I'll let Matt do his own shit while I sideline and cheer like a champ! We love Oregon! We appreciate the climate, we love moss and waterfalls and the ocean. We chose Tillamook County because that was our first trip together as a couple and we realized how much we loved being together and alone in nature." - Bekah

.We discussed everything on our first phone call from the beauty of the PNW, to their bulldog Frank, Bekah's planning anxiety and what the couple loves to do together.

But the thing that made me really laugh was their proposal story. :)

How did you meet?

We met through the magic of the internet. Bekah was visiting her family for Christmas. The moment she got home to Austin, Matt tried to ask her out. She was so tired that she had to wait a day and met him at a local coffee shop where conversation grew.

Tell me your proposal story!

We went on a camping trip to Padre Island. During the trip the beach was flooded so we were stuck on the side facing the Laguna Madre with all of the RVers. We were crammed inside a rooftop tent with our 80lb bulldog. We survived a hellish storm and our dog Frank sleeping legs out against Bekah.

We waited patiently for the tide to recede and on our 2nd to last day we finally were able to go to the beach. It was a restless night again and when we woke up for the last day Bekah just wanted to read her book and forget about going home.

At around 11am, I came up wearing fishing waders and told her that we needed to start packing up and I had one last thing to try. She ignored me because she didn’t want to leave. I snuck into my car and pulled out the ring. I got down on one knee, waders and all, and asked her “will you marry me” and she responded with “what?” I repeated myself and finally she said “Yes of course yes!”

A minute later a “beach bod” couple walked by and Bekah yelled “We just got engaged!!” The lady replied with “Ew, wasn’t he just fishing?” That is how we will remember our engagement, forever.

Hahaha.. seriously? When I heard about their crazy proposal weekend, I knew that if ANY couple could handle whatever February threw at them, it would be these two. And they definitely got the chance to embrace the unpredictable weather. We didn't have that nice PNW rain that comes and goes, and is easily avoided under a forest canopy. It was nonstop and sideways. We got wet, but we had a blast! And most importantly, Matt and Bekah (and Frank) embraced every second and never stopped smiling. Well, maybe until the very end when the exhaustion set in. But you know what I mean. ;)
