Choosing the Perfect Location:

Northern Ireland boasts a diverse range of breathtaking locations, from rugged coastlines to picturesque countryside. Consider iconic spots like the Giant's Causeway (pictured above), Dunluce Castle, or the Mourne Mountains. Research and choose a location that resonates with both of you and reflects the intimacy you seek. Legal Requirements:

Before diving into the planning process, it's essential to understand the legal requirements for eloping in Northern Ireland. Contact the General Register Office (GRO) to obtain the necessary paperwork, including the Marriage Notice Form. Ensure you meet the residency requirements and book an appointment with the local registrar. Or, have a symbolic ceremony during your elopement, and then completely the legal requirements back at home!

Selecting a Date:

Northern Ireland experiences a temperate maritime climate, so consider the time of year that suits your preferences. Spring and summer offer lush green landscapes, while autumn showcases vibrant colors. Check for any local events or holidays that might affect your plans and choose a date that holds special meaning for you as a couple. And of course, reach out to us for suggestions based on the locations you love!

Accommodations:

Whether you opt for a cozy bed and breakfast, a luxurious hotel, a farmhouse or a charming cottage, Northern Ireland offers a variety of accommodations to suit different tastes. Staying along the northern most coastline is my recommendation! We found a fantastic historic hotel with a pub downstairs. It was a great way to meet people without having to venture out after dark or in the rain.

Embracing Local Culture:

It's important to do some research and really take in the local culture wherever you travel. Northern Ireland is no different. NI provides a fascinating and important contrast that is intricately connected to the modern cultural and political landscape of Ireland. Belfast is the best place to start, with museums, art, and history galore. And don't miss the oldest working whisky distillery in the world! Bushmills became my favorite whisky after our first time shooting in Northern Ireland. If you are a whisky connoisseur like I am, skip the Jameson distillery in Ireland, and put Bushmills on your list instead. You're welcome!
