When Kate and Cristien reached out to me, they said they wanted:


  • a cozy, pet-friendly, mountain cabin
  • fall foliage and mountain views
  • to hike and explore together
  • not to have to wear wedding clothes or invite guests
  • special desserts instead of wedding cake
  • a comfortable, personal, and super low-key vibe
  • not to feel like they were taking photos all day


So we turned all of these things into the absolutely perfect day you'll see below. We started at their really cute cabin in Glacier, Washington where I took some "family photos" with their two dogs, and then headed up to the mountains for a couple of hikes the ended up in front of Mt Shuksan's beautiful glaciers, where they exchanged vows while the peaks turned pink from the alpenglow. After sunset, we drove back at their cabin where they celebrated with Kate's homemade "wedding pie" before we said goodnight. Great cabin? Done. Fall colors and mountain views? Nailed it. ;) Hiking in comfortable hiking clothes, having the day to themselves, a low-key adventure vibe and no white dress? Check. Check. Check.


These two did what felt right to them, and it turned into their perfect day!

Artist Point is in northern Washington, just west of the the North Cascades National Park and only 15 miles south of the Canadian Border. This area is a favorite by so many (including me!) because of the easy access to views that normally require really difficult hiking or climbing. The area is only accessible a short part of the year since Mt Baker gets a ton of snowfall and the snow lingers into July and starts up again in October. There are hikes for everyone - easy, moderate, and hard - which makes it a really amazing place for summer or early fall elopements!
