A destination wedding on the cutest island off the coast of Maine
Jessica and Adam decided to get married in Jessica's home state of Maine. So they flew all the way from Dallas, Texas and invited their closest family and friends for a destination wedding and celebration that had all of the best New England vibes. Cozy inns, lobster rolls, and ferry boats. What's more New England than that?
I don't shoot a lot of weddings these days since I focus mostly on elopements with fewer than 20 people. But some destination weddings have that elopement vibe which I just adore.
What's the elopement vibe? It's that feeling of ignoring the "shoulds" and doing what feels right to you. It's having an attitude of flexibility and couple-focused energy. Jessica and Adam were like an eloping couple who just happen to have enough family and friends involved to warrant a super cute venue and a truck full of lobster. :)

Peaks Island feels like stepping into a slower, saltier version of summer. Have you ever been to places where you feel like you're in a movie? Where you expect to hear the ice cream truck moving slowly down the road at any minute? This adorable island is only accessible by short ferry ride from Portland. How charming is that? And I'm not making this up, but the moment you step off the ferry, you’re greeted by breezy ocean air, colorful cottages, and neighbors cruising by on bikes.
If you have any interest in a coastal Maine wedding, Peaks Island might be the perfect spot. Unique scenery, panoramic views of Casco Bay, quiet shoreline paths and that quaint island feel. Perfect if you want the laid back version of new England.
